My first facial experience.

Hello lovelies!

So my skin hasn’t been doing the greatest lately what with this insane weather and my stress levels through the roof. I decided a facial would help my situation, so I went to Spaendipity in Oshawa. The spa is run by a woman named Jenne who is an absolute delight. The spa uses all vegan, cruelty free products which is quite important to me.

As this was my first time, I had no clue at all what goes on during a facial. Jenne walked me through every step and explained every product to me which was comforting and informative. I learned a lot about my skin, for example I’m both dry and oily. I didn’t even know that was a thing!

She started with cleansing my skin, then a gommage exfoliant, a stimulant to help my skin to expel my blackheads, extractions, a moisturizer, then two masks.

My skin is still softer than a babies arse even almost a week later and I love it. I’m going to insert some photos below. The first 3 being before my facial, the next immediately after, then the day after, then five days later.

Immediately after:

A wee bit red from extractions!

The next morning:

Then five days later:

My skin is much brighter, smoother, and I have WAY more knowledge about my skin. I’m currently going through a bit of a detox cycle because I had never had an extraction so everything is slowly but surely coming up to the surface.

I’m planning on going back for monthly facials to help my skin fully heal and get to a good place. The cost of a facial is $85 and I fully believe it’s worth every penny.

If you’re in the Durham region I recommend seeing Jenne at Spaendipity for any of your spa needs. She’s very professional and knowledgeable, as well as a kind soul.

Search Spaendipity on Facebook to get notifications of specials and follow her on Twitter @spaendipity
Have a fantastic days my lovelies!

NYX Total Control Drop Foundation Review

Hi lovelies!

Sorry for being AWOL for so long. My life went through the blender and I’m just finally getting the pieces back together.

So today’s topic, as you could most likely guess from the title, is going to be a first impression review of the NYX Total Control Drop Foundation. I finally got my paws on it after angstily waiting for it to be available in Canada, as is always the struggle.

First off, the price is right. $16 Canadian for 0.43 fl. oz. It comes in a lovely frosted glass bottle with a dropper. I’m a fan of the packaging. They also sell a brush designed to be used with the foundation but due to the fact I have more brushes than you can shake a stick at I passed on the brush.

On NYX’s website the product is described as such:

“From sheer to full, your ideal coverage is just drops away with our new Total Control Drop Foundation! Fine-tune this velvety, matte foundation with the included dropper. Simply adjust the number of drops until you create the look you’re feelin’ today. Want more coverage? Add more drops!”

I have to disagree with one thing right off the bat; this is not full coverage. It builds to a decent medium but you can definitely still see slight imperfections through it. I applied this foundation using a flat kabuki brush, the Morphe E8 to be exact, over Maybelline Baby Skin foundation and then wore it for 8 hours.

before-and-after  Left is my naked skin, right is the foundation before setting it.

I’m going to list some pros and cons of the foundation before giving my final thoughts.

  • Doesn’t look cakey no matter how much you build it.
  • Blends suuuuper easily.
  • Concealer blends easily on top of it.
  • It has a very natural finish.
  • Coverage is easy to control.

  • It really needs to be set.
  • However setting removes coverage, even when patting on powder.
  • It settled into my expression lines quickly.
  • It transfers easily.
  • By about hour 3 it was separating around my nose.
  • At the end of the day I was a damn oil slick. I was shiny and separated all over.

This is after 8 hours of wear. Forgive my awful bathroom lighting thnx.

Shade wise I’m in love with this range. There are so many pale princess friendly shades it makes my heart so happy! I compared it to a couple other foundations I have just for the sake of shade comparison.

From left to right:

  • Rimmel Lasting Finish 25h Foundation in 091
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation in Fair Beige
  • Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless in 110
  • NYX Total Control Drop Foundation in 03

All in all it’s not an awful foundation but it’s also not the best I’ve tried. I’m going to play with it a bit more and see if I can make it work because the finish of it is to die for!

This is the look I did using this foundation. In case you would like to know what else is on my face:

  • Maybelline Baby Skin Primer
  • NYX Total Control Drop Foundation 03
  • Sephora Gel Serum Concealer in 01
  • Ofra Pressed Powder
  • NYX HD Blush in Taupe to contour
  • Becca Moonstone Shimmering Skin Perfector
  • NYX HD Blush in Apricot
  • NYX Eyebrow Gel in Brunette
  • TooFaced Shadow Insurance
  • Crease – Seoul, Milan, Morocco, Stockholm. All from the NYX Advent Calendar
  • Lid – Seoul
  • Browbone – Transylvania from NYX
  • TooFaced Better Than Sex Mascara
  • NYX Matte Setting Spray
  • NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes

Thank you guys so much for spending part of your day in my little corner of the internet!

Have a magical day,

Jaimee :3

Part Five of my Makeup Stash

Hey my lovelies!

Welcome to part five of my makeup stash series!

Today we’re talking about my blush collection. They range in finish from matte to satin to glitter, if you have any questions about a specific product please feel free to ask!

I’m going to start off with my cream blush stash just because it’s smaller! I’m including my ColourPop blushes in this section because their texture is almost a cream.

Tarte Natural Cheek Tint in Achiote

Stila Convertible Colour Cheek and Lip tint in Peony

ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing Cream in the lightest shade

EE Cream Blush in Ash

Revlon Photoready Blush in Coral Reef

ColourPop Super Shock Cheek in Birthday Suit and Non-Fiction

✨Disclaimer! I think Non-Fiction is supposed to be a highlight but I’m super fair so it’s a lovely glowy blush!✨

My favorite out of my cream blushes is definitely between Non-Fiction and Achiote!

On to my powder blushes!

Benefit Box O’ Powder in Sugarbomb

City Colour Be Matte Blush in Fresh Melon

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 hour blush in Blissful and Natural Beauty

Milani Baked Blush in Rose D’Oro

Bh Cosmetics Floral Duos in Iris, Daisy, and Tulip

NYX blushes in Cinnamon, Apricot, Flamingo, and Bittersweet

Hikari Blush in

Physicians Formula Blush in Natural Pink

ELF HD blushes in Candid Coral, Peachy Keen, and Mellow Mauve.

My favorite powder blushes are Rose D’Oro, Sugarbomb, and Blissful!

So those are all of my blushes, and when they’re all together like that the look awfully similar, but I swear they’re different!! I hope this helps any of you pale princesses looking for a new blush.

Have a great day lovelies!

Part four of my Makeup Stash

Good afternoon my lovelies!

Welcome back to my makeup stash series. We’re on to part 4; concealer.

My ultimate favorite of all time hands down holy trial concealer is the Urban Decay Naked Weightless Full Coverage Concealer. It brightens my undereyes, conceals discolouration, and it super light feeling which is just lovely.

I like using the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer for blemishes because I find it’s a bit thicker and more full coverage. I got it for under my eyes but it was a touch too heavy for my undereyes.

Next I have Benefit’s Erase Paste. This salmon coloured concealer neutralizes the blue and purple tones under my eyes perfectly. I use this when my bags are particularly bad, I pat it on before my foundation and it helps so much!

On with the colour correcting theme, I have the BH Cosmetics Concealer Palette. It has three concealer shades and three colour correcting shades. They blend easily and work well.

Last but not least is a bit of a grey area. I used 100 of my points at Sephora to get a deluxe sample of the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Concealer + Foundation. The shade is far too dark for me so I actually use it for cream contour and bronzer. It blends like an absolute dream and has crazy
coverage. I’m definitely going to be buying the full sized in my actual shade to try out. Stay tuned for a review!

So that’s my concealer collection. Short and sweet, but as a pale princess I have issues finding neutral concealers that aren’t too dark or oxidize like mad.

I hope this helps any of you who are looking for a new concealer! Feel free to ask me questions in the comments.

I hope you guys have an amazing day!

Makeup Stash Part 3; Bronzers

Hey lovelies!

So here is the third installment of my makeup stash series, my bronzers! Because I’m quite fair, this section of my stash is a little lacking. It’s difficult for me to find bronzers that don’t make me look orange or dirty, so if you have the same issue as me then I really hope this helps you!

So my absolute favorite bronzer with no competition is from The Body Shop. I have the shade 01 Light Matte in the Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder. This shade is fair and warm without being orange. If you’re fair then you need this in your life.

I also have two from Tarte. I have The Sculptor Contouring Face Slenderizer and the Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer both in the shade Park Ave Princess. I love the Face Slenderizer for a natural looking cream contour, and the powder bronzer for doing a powder contour.

I have a ColourPop bronzer in the shade Bon Voyage. It has a unique moussey texture that looks natural and lovely on the skin. It’s also warm without being orange, and it has a satin finish that looks super natural.

The Maybelline Fit Me bronzer honestly isn’t my favorite. I find it to lack pigment a bit and it has an odd texture, I’m not entirely sure why I still have it.

The last bronzer I have is from BH Cosmetics. It’s the Bombshell Bronzer in Siren, and it’s STUNNING. It has a gorgeous sheen to it that isn’t chunky glitter or even shimmer, it’s just shiney and perfect and I can’t get over it. It’s an absolute must for summer time.

So these are all my bronzers, stay tuned for next week’s edition!

Foundation Stash

Hi my Lovelies!

Here’s part two of my makeup stash, foundations! Honestly I don’t have very many foundations because I have a hard time finding foundations pale enough for me, most of these require mixing with a foundation lightener. That being said, here we go!

Foundations I own:

  • Bourjois Paris Health Mix Serum Foundation
  • Marc Jacobs Marvelous Mousse Foundation
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Full Coverage Foundation
  • Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer
  • Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation
  • Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25 Hour Skin Perfecting Full Coverage Foundation with Comfort Serum
  • Nyx HD Studio Photogenic Foundation
  • Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless Foundation
  • Make Up For Ever HD Foundation
  • Manic Panic Dreamtone Flawless Foundation and Colour Corrector in Virgin

All these foundations are lovely, but I love the way the Make Up For Ever one makes my skin look. It looks flawless and natural on. If you like luminous foundations I highly recommend the Stila foundation mentioned above! It gives a stunning glow without looking oily or too shiny.

Stay tuned for bronzers next week!!

Have a brilliant week loves,

My Primer Stash

Hey Lovelies!!

So as I mentioned in my previous post, I’m going to be showing you guys my make-up collection bit by bit, in the general order that I put my make-up on my face. Now some of my posts will be broken down a bit differently, for example my eyeshadows will be split into “Individual pans/pots” and “Eyeshadow Palettes” just to make everything a wee bit more manageable.

That being said, my first stash we’ll be poking through is my primer stash!

I don’t have that many primers honestly. I started collecting them until I found one that blew me away and I just kinda tapered off on buying them. So here’s what I own;

  • Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water
  • Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer
  • Benefit Porefessional Primer
  • Avance Flawless Effects Skincare Mattifying Emulsion Primer
  • ELF Poreless Face Primer
  • ELF Blemish Control Face Primer
  • ELF Mineral Face Primer in Brightening Lavender
  • Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer in Base Hydrating

10/10, no doubts in my mind, my holy grail primer is the Benefit Porefessional. It makes my skin look flawless, my foundation doesn’t settle weird, I don’t get super oily, and my foundation applies super smoothly. The primer water I like when my skin feels a bit dry or sad about being awake in the morning; the Hourglass primer is STUNNING, seriously your skin looks so luminous and pretty with this; I got the Avance primer in an Ipsy bag and it’s the worst thing I’ve ever put on my face. It balls up and looks chunky and is gross. I keep it to prime my arm for swatches. All the ELF ones are good, mind you they smell like a pine tree; and the Make Up For Ever primer is great if I have dry spots on my face.

So that’s it for my primer collection! Next week my foundation stash will be up!

Have a great week Lovelies!!
